Your skin is the window to your body that reveals the stories of your life! Skin has many functions, making it the ultimate multitasker of the human body. It's the first line of defense between our bodies and the outside world, protecting us from bacteria, viruses, pollution and chemical substances that we encounter everyday.
Many factors impact your skin. Genetics, aging, hormones, and conditions such as diabetes are internal factors that affect the skin. Some of these you cannot influence, but there are many external factors that you can control.
The food you eat, hydration, your stress levels, lack of sleep, not enough movement, smoking, and particular medications can all impact the skin. Skin also has its own microbiome and inappropriate skincare can disrupt the balance.
So here’s my essentials steps everyone can take for healthier, glowing skin.
Eat more healthy fats! Aka avocados, olives, coconut, wild caught fish
Keep hydrated! Drinking at least 2L of water (coffee doesn’t count ;)) is a game changer
Eat less inflammatory foods aka grains, processed sugars, industrial seed oils.
Take care of your gut! Bring fibers, vitamins, and collagen to your diet (bone broth for the win)
When it comes to skincare products, think clean. With nutritious & plant based ingredients as much as possible. And without toxic ingredients (parabens, sulfates, phtalates & more).
